Dwell in the Shadow of The Almighty
Put all “supposing” on one side and dwell in the shadow of the Almighty. Deliberately tell God that you will not fret about that thing. All our fret and worry is caused by calculating without God. Oswald Chambers
“All our fret and worry is caused by calculating without God”
How true is this statement!
Anxiety and worry keep us up at night, it causes us to toss and turn. Possible scenarios keep playing out in our minds. All the what if’s.
So what is it that you fear? What or who is it that you dread? Have you ever worried to the point where what you fear actually happens? Like a self fulfilling prophecy?
Oswald’s challenge to us is to put “all our supposing” to the side, “dwell in the shadow of the Almighty”, tell God we “will not fret about that thing”, whatever it may be.
Easier said than done! So how do we put “all our supposing to the side”?
We can take comfort in God’s word; in His truths.
Psalm 94:19(ESV) says, “When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”
How do the Lord’s consolations cheer my soul?
Fear: Isaiah 41:10(ESV) “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Anxiety: Philippians 4:6, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Worry: Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””
Feel better? I know I do.
So when the storms of life have you fretting, remember, Jesus is with you in the boat. He promises to never leave us or forsake us. Take comfort in His promises and “dwell in the Shadow of the Almighty”.

Thank you Mary.
